You can open a
Carter Bank & Trust
account anytime or from anywhere that is convenient for you. It’s simple and secure to open a new account. It takes just minutes!
The online application should not be used in a shared environment, such as a library, as someone may be watching you type in your personal information.
Here's what you will need:
- To be 18 years of age or older as the primary applicant. The primary applicant can add a joint owner to the application who is 16 or older.
- To be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Your Social Security Number / Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.
- Government Issued Identification (Driver's License, State ID, or Passport).
- If another person will be joint on your accounts, they must enter and validate their personal information.
There are 3 ways to fund your account:
- Transfer from another Carter Bank & Trust account.
- ACH from an account at another financial institution. you’ll need their routing number and your account number.
- Credit/Debit card transaction (Mastercard/Visa/Discover). You’ll need the card number, expiration date, and CVV code.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU
When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.
