To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all Financial Institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means to you: When you open an account, we will ask your name, physical address (where you live), date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
Here's what you will need:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Social Security Number/Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.
- Government-issued Identification (i.e. Driver's License, State ID, or Passport).
- Proof of Address (i.e. utility bill, credit card statement).
- Joint applicants must be present (will be prompted to authenticate identity).
- Must live or work in one of the following counties:
Massachusetts: Middlesex, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Worcester
New Hampshire: Hillsborough, Rockingham
- Online funding required for most account products.
You will need the following:
- Your Social Security Number / Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.
- A second form of Government-issued identification(i.e. a Driver's License, State ID, or Passport).
- If you will be adding a joint owner to your new account, the joint owner must provide their information at the time of account opening.
- If you will be funding your new Lowell Five account by electronically transferring money from an established account at another financial institution, you will need your account number and the routing number for the other institution. These numbers can be found at the bottom of a check or deposit slip.
- If you will be funding your new account with a debit or credit card, you will need the card number, expiration date, and CVV code printed on the card.

OPTIONAL: In accordance with Massachusetts law, persons age 18 or younger or age 65 and older, must be presented with a checking product and a savings product that is free of any charges except $5 insufficient funds fees and ATM fees.
I am age 18 or younger or age 65 and over and ONLY want to be presented with the account options that are FREE to me under Massachusetts law.
Security Tips
- Never use an electronic device where someone else might be watching you enter your personal and private information.
- Avoid using public computers.
- Lowell Five will never ask you to provide, verify or update your Passwords, PIN Numbers, Account Numbers, Credit Card Numbers, Social Security Number, or other personal information via an unsolicited email or phone call.
- If you receive unsolicited email or correspondence about your Lowell Five Bank account(s) please contact us to verify that the email or correspondence is authentic.
